So this is a true vintage hand rolled bus sign from the late 1940’s. It is not perfect but in good condition for its age. Also I had to open it up to rewind it and progress it. It progresses forward and reverses when I do it manually with the gears. But couldn’t quite get it with the knob, may have to do with the knob not being present? Please see all photos could use a good deep clean etc. The John Deere plant came to Dubuque in 1945 and this is a hand roller style not electric so It would date the sign to the late 1940’s to early possibly the 1960’s. This sign would have been mounted in an early bus and the driver would hand roll the sign to the next destination. It could be Fremont Avenue or The John Deere Plant!! This sign measures about 29″ long by about 9″ tall and about 5 and 1/2 at widest point on the mounting base. This is a great piece of history and would look good hanging up anywhere and you can change what is displayed on the sign depending on your tastes! Also wiring for light is not tested thinking it’s 6v? Also no photos 1 scuff on glass may be easily buffed out or could replace with new plexiglass looks great overall. Any questions please ask.
