Offered is a collectible fine art tractor painting. The painting was created by professional artist, William Helvey. It is an original watercolor that is unframed and painted on heavy 140# hot press watercolor paper. No copies have ever been made of the image. Image size is approximately 20 x 15 inches. The color of the original art may be slightly different that the one you see on the screen. They are more vivid with darker, contoured lines. It is one of the few paintings in the tractor series that is still available. The image is presently in the artists personal collection. The image shows a 1950s John Deere tractor with strong shadows of blue, violet. And of course, John Deere green The tractor has rubber front and rear tires. An emphasis is on the front and rear tires of the tractor. This John Deere model was very popular with farmers and ranchers during the second half of the 20th century. Brilliant colors seem to sparkle from the impressionists composition. The tractor seems to be in a timeless landscape of yellows, violets and greens. The museum quality image emphasizes soft lights and shadows. The painting technique that Helvey uses is quite unique. Multiple washes plus vibrant colors make up the watercolor palette. Each watercolor goes through three to four phases of work. First is the actual drawing done with graphite, ink or charcoal. Then the subject is bathed with a color wash. The background is thoroughly soaked so that a number of colors can be applied with wet and wet washes. After drying, details of the image are completed and a final color is applied to the subjects and background. After personally signing the final version, flattening of the painting takes as much as two to three days. It is then ready for viewing and/or exhibition. He is also an independent filmmaker and has received numerous awards for his films, photographs and artwork. Helvey has had eighty art exhibits and twenty photography solo exhibits during his fifty plus years as professional artist and fine art photographer.
